B.C. Rich Mockingbird NJ Series Flametop 1994

This listing is for a B.C. Rich Mockingbird NJ Series with serial number dating to 1994, part of the brand’s long-running import series that was manufactured in Nagoya, Japan (NJ) starting in the early ‘80s and then later in Korea.

The guitar is fully functional and has had some recent work done to replace faulty pots, the 3-way switch and the output jack, as well as to clean up and condition the fretboard. The guitar was set up by the repair technician but may require additional tweaks depending on your playing style and personal preferences.

The guitar is in player-grade condition and shows signs of regular wear and patina consistent with a nearly 30-year-old instrument, including multiple blemishes in the finish and smaller scratches, swirling and dents throughout, but nothing that impacts the playability or sound of the guitar. There are cracks along the edges of the flame maple top and back that look to have resulted from the guitar being dropped on its output jack, as well as a more noticeable dent on the edge of the treble side of the fretboard between the 2nd and 3rd fret (see pictures). The fretboard is in good condition with minimal wear on the frets.

The prior owner looks to have either removed the pickup cover or replaced the original bridge pickup. The guitar is also missing the tremolo arm for the Floyd Rose-licensed bridge and the backplate for the trem cavity. No case or gig bag included.
