Here is something you don't see every day, an original 1979 Ramirez 1a 10-String guitar. The is guitar is in really nice condition, and it sounds fantastic. Here is a rare opportunity to get an original Ramirez 1a 10-String -- the guitar that started the Classical Harp Guitar revolution!!
The guitar has sides that are solid Indian Rosewood, and are not lined with Spanish Cypress, like they were in the early 70s. It sounds great, and has the classic Ramirez sound, with excellent volume, projection, and sympathetic resonance. This has that highly desirable concert Ramirez 1a sound.
It is in very good condition overall, but like many Ramirez guitars from the 1970s, it suffers from relatively high action. The first string is a manageable 3.5mm, but it extends up to 7mm at the 10th string. I can play it just fine as is, but I also like relatively high action.
Cosmetically, it does have a string ding behind the 1st string, and there is also something going on with the back, where the wood feels a little rough, as if the guitar spent many years in the case on the floor on its back, and the wood has absorbed some finish, perhaps due to extreme temperatures.
All in all, this is a beautiful guitar that plays and sounds great, as long as you can handle the higher action. Comes with the original case and case key, and note that the lid strap is no longer attached to the case lid.
