Marantz AV8802A 13.2-Channel Network A/V Preamplifier

The AV8802A 13.2-Channel Network A/V Preamplifier from Marantz is designed to deliver sophisticated audio processing, enhanced surround sound options, 4K video upscaling, and a wide variety of connectivity options when paired with a sold separately power amplifier. This preamplifier offers the flexibility of unbalanced and balanced outputs and is supported by a high-performance toroidal power supply. Built-in Dolby Atmos support gives you the ability to add front height channels for an immersive audio experience. The Audyssey Platinum calibration suite is built into the preamplifier to help you tailor the sound of the unit to your listening environment; a setup microphone is included.

Not only can you connect traditional audio sources like CD players, but the Marantz AV8802A can connect to wireless audio sources via integrated Bluetooth, AirPlay, and Wi-Fi connectivity. An Ethernet port is also available for wired high-speed connections. Additionally, Internet connectivity allows you to access Internet streaming services, such as Pandora, Spotify, vTuner, and SiriusXM. With on-board DLNA support, you can wirelessly stream media from similarly equipped devices such as PCs and network-attached storage devices. In addition to built-in AM and FM tuners, integrated HD radio support delivers CD-like sound quality from over-the-air programming.

The Marantz AV8802A is well-equipped for video sources as well as audio. This preamplifier features eight HDMI inputs and three HDMI outputs, which includes support for HDCP 2.2 compliant devices. There are also seven stereo RCA, two digital optical, two digital coaxial, two USB, balanced audio, and phono inputs. Equipped with dual Bluetooth/Wi-Fi antennas, the AV8802A lets you enjoy wireless streaming from your smartphone, tablet, and portable music player. You can also connect the AV8802A directly to your home network via the wired RJ-45 LAN connection option, and there’s a convenient front panel USB port for direct connection to your iPod, iPod touch, iPhone, iPad, and portable USB devices.

ISFccc Video Calibration Controls Certified by the Imaging Science Foundation, the AV8802A features a full selection of advanced ISFccc video calibration adjustments that lets a video calibration technician optimize picture quality when the preamplifier is connected to a TV or projector. 8 HDMI Inputs and 3 HDMI Outputs Conforming to HDMI and HDCP 2.2 specifications, the AV8802A features 8 HDMI inputs (including a convenient HDMI input on the front panel) and 3 HDMI outputs, including dual HDMI outputs for the main room, which lets you send your selected source to a flat panel TV and a projector at the same time, with another HDMI output that lets you send another source to another room. Audyssey LFC (Low Frequency Containment) uses advanced psycho-acoustic algorithms to provide deep bass when lower volume levels are required. Audyssey DSX is designed to provide dynamic sound expansion, expanding the front soundstage via additional front wide, front height or even front wide and front height audio channels.

It also supports high-resolution audio tracks up to 24-bit/192-kHz including AIFF, ALAC and FLAC formats, and includes gapless playback capability with many file types for uninterrupted listening enjoyment. It also plays 2.8-MHz DSD high resolution audio files (DSD is the advanced high resolution audio coding system for SACD). Multiple Control Options In addition to easy operation with the supplied ergonomically designed remote control, the AV8802A features additional control capabilities. There’s an RS-232C serial port for direct connection to external automation equipment. The Marantz app (available in iOS and Android versions) lets you operate the AV8802A from a smartphone or tablet.
