I am the sole owner since buying the beast at auction from ABC radio Melbourne in around 1994-they had two. These were house priced @ $30K plus back in the early 80's not including remote , extra heads, extenders, cables and tapes. Hate to sell it but won't have a studio space to do it justice over the next few years.
Look it up, the Ampex MM-1200 is widely considered the best sounding machine of all time. Class A audiophile design and circuitry, gold connectors everywhere and stunning sounding still to this day. This machine has been used just this week for some buss mix transfers which it is awesome for getting the phat tape sound on sterile digital mixes.

Known Issues:
*2x audio switching cards erratic when switching between input and output-Most likely old capacitors or flaky transistors-very cheap fix via Jaycar etc These cards can temporarily be relocated to any slots until sorted out-(15&16 etc). The cards are serviceable and there are several options to send the cards overseas for repair as they are small. The relays are 100% ok as has been confirmed via exchanging with other audio switching cards as there are 14 others in the machine!
*Search/cue counter counts up only since last move which means it has to be STOP/PLAY toggled to stop from fast RWD or FWD -Most likely the tacho needs mechanical adjustment which is thoroughly explained in the service notes and best done post move once at its new location.
*Includes VSO speed control unit and cable which always worked well but it is now not showing values on the screen. Not required for switching speeds from 15 inches per second to 30 inches per second
*MACHINE WEIGHS 300+ KG so get a truck or pickup with ramps and some help.-Machine has wheels which is a relief. Can also be disassembled if need be as it is completely modular with unique connectors that only go in the correct socket so any moron can get it right-genius
