This particular guitar was made in January of 2004 which makes it one of the first for this version of 355-CE 12 Strings. They were made from 2004 thru 2013.

I played this guitar for about an hour in the shop before purchasing it. I don’t buy many Taylor guitars. They don’t usually fit what my ears are looking for. This 12 string was such an exception. Beautiful Acoustic Sound from this Jumbo Body and the original Taylor ES1 Preamp System blew me away with its warm yet cutting through sound. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. I love this guitar. Additionally, the cutaway design of this 12-string acoustic guitar offers you access to the upper frets. The spruce top and African mahogany back and sides provide a clear, balanced tone. The 17 inch wide bout on this Jumbo 12 string will blow you away!

Here’s some info we found on the internet regarding these fine Taylor guitars!

Overview -

A smooth Venetian cutaway provides access to the upper frets on this solid 12-string, while the Expression System amplifies each note with true warmth and fullness.

300 Series

Solid African mahogany backs and sides and gloss-finished Sitka spruce tops provide a clear, balanced tone, while wood fiber binding, pearl fretboard inlays, and chrome Taylor tuners streamline the look. The Expression System pickup, now standard on all acoustic electric models, makes the 300 Series a great introduction to premium-quality, American-made, solid wood acoustic guitars.

Woods

Top: Sitka Spruce, Back & sides: African Mahogany - The warm tone and open midrange of African mahogany balances the bright and snappy characteristics of a Sitka spruce top. The resulting combination provides the perfect guitar for strong, rhythmic playing styles.

Shape

Jumbo - The Jumbo delivers the extra-deep resonance and volume that come with a larger sound chamber together with its own signature subtleties. With a huge presence, the Jumbo is perfectly suited for aggressive strumming.

Electronics

Taylor Expression System - Designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar's native tone, the Expression System utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Mr. Rupert Neve, the Taylor ES is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound.

Inlays

Large pearl dots

Finish

Satin with Gloss Top

The finish used to create this guitar's textured satin back and sides and lustrous gloss top was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultraviolet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes. Available in natural finish.

Overview

Building upon the original 12-string in Taylor's 300 series, the Taylor 355ce 12-string acoustic-electric guitar tacks on a few extra accoutrements for some added flexibility in both playing and aesthetics. Of course, the 355ce sports a smooth Venetian cutaway, as notated by the c in the instrument's name, and onboard electronics, indicated by the e. The 355ce's jumbo body, resonant sound, and design similar to that of the Leo Kottke signature model makes it an excellent guitar for finger picking.

Description

Black wood binding, ebony fretboard and distinctive Taylor bridge, Indian rosewood headstock veneer, and high gloss top finish with satin sides and back makes the vibration perfect. Solid African mahogany back and sides take the edge off the tone while still providing high definition.

Here’s some info on the Taylor Electronic System ES1.1

The Taylor Guitars “Expression System” is a series of proprietary electronics designed from the ground up to maintain the unique sound and aesthetics of Taylor Guitars. The expression system is fully optimized for the Taylor sound and is unlike any other guitar pickup system. Since its introduction in 2003, the Expression System has gone through a few iterations as Taylor constantly searches to improve upon the state of the art.

Taylor Guitars ES1.1 Preamp

The original version of the expression system was used from 2003-2006. It features a magnetic pickup/dummy coil mounted underneath the guitar’s fingerboard extension and two “body sensor” pickups located on the underside of the instrument’s top. It is most easily identified by a AA battery box with a CAT5 signal cable connection visible on the preamp.

The  guitar is all original but a strap button that was installed. The frets are in great shape. We left the strings on from the shop as they seemed to be newer and sounded great. It is tuned to D which a lot of 12 strings are. We left it in that tuning. I like it. Easier to sing to D than E…LOL..

Check out the Taylor Deluxe Logo’d Hard Shell case. As nice as the guitar. It has a few nicks but still looks great. Interior has no smells other than guitar. This guitar outfit also includes the shown case candy to include the Truss Rod, Warranty Info and Truss Rod Adjustment instructions. Very cool items in this awesome case for this awesome guitar.

Beautiful and I’m sure whoever get this guitar will love it. However, if for any reason you do not, return it at your expense and a refund less original shipping will be quickly sent upon return of the guitar in same condition. I’m sure you will love it!
