TOKAI GUITARS History
Tokai Gakki Company, Ltd is a Japanese guitar company founded i
n 1947 by Tadayouki Adachi based in Hamamatsu city.

As far as guitars are concerned, Tokai began manufacturing in 1965 with lines of classical guitars.

The first electric guitar emerged in 1968, inspired by the design of the Mosrite Mark I with the name of Humming Bird,
which would be followed by a line of acoustic guitars with the same name. With the opening of the markets,

in the 70s the collaborations with American brands began a commercial strategy that would lead the way in the future,
whether through Joint Ventures (C.F. Martin & Company) or as OEM manufacturers (C.G. Conn).

In 1975 he would launch his own brand of acoustic guitars under
the name Cat's Eyes (mostly replicas of Martin's designs).Lawsuit guitars

The American influence in Japanese society at the end of the 70s translated into the manufacture of Fender and Gibson replicas by the Japanese manufacturer,

who saw the opportunity to capture a market niche with electric guitars t
hat were increasingly in demand but at lower prices. much more affordable.

These models, popularly known as "Lawsuit guitars" spread especially to
Gibson's Les Paul models (renamed "Les Paul Reborn",

"Reborn Old" and "Love Rock" over the years due to threats from the giant American to protect their copyrights).
But the copies also touched Fender with the manufacture of the “Springy Sound”
(ST series, replicas of the Stratocaster)
and the “Breezy Sound” (TE series, replicas of the Telecaster).

Towards the end of 1978, these models would make the leap to be sold in addition
to the Japanese domestic market as well as in Europe.
