Again, Gibson/Epiphone were making Elite guitars in Japan. Epiphone, sanctioned by Gibson, only made Elite's for two years 2002-03. Ovation company threatened to sue Gibson, imaging that, Gibson getting sued, because of their Adamas Ovation "Elite" Acoustic/Electric.
So, in 2004, Gibson told Epiphone, change the name to Elitist and that continued until 2008 when Gibson shut down the line because they were a better instrument than what Gibson was making and both the Japanese market and American market was buying these at a 1/3 of Gibson prices.
This guitar in listing in natural finish is a Standard Plus due to the "flame" maple cap. These were $200 more that the Elite/Elitist plain Standard.
