I purchased this bass, because I used to gig with the same bass in the 80's, and it was a great solid player. I never plugged it in, and most certainly am concluding it does not work. The magnets in the P pickup have sunken in, and the 9V battery cover is missing. The bass is around 31 years old. Has some chips and scratches. If it's your lucky day, re-positioning the magnets and new battery might do the trick, but I seriously doubt it.
That being said, Active PJ pickup kits range from 80.00 + depending on your preference. Set neck Dyna Bass guitars are around, but very few are for sale. The kicker? most repairs DO NOT COME WITH THE CASE. This one does
