This is the first fleabass I ever got my hands on (now owning a full collection...). I've always been a bit reluctant to these basses, as I considered them to be a superficial merchandizing product. But I have to admit that I was pretty wrong there, it just is an awesome bass that deserves a place in any bass collection. Apparently they were only made for two years and only 2000 where ever produced according to several sources
The bass features a downsized body, relatively small neck and most importantly a 30" scale length. Alder for body, quartersawn maple for neck and rosewood for fingerboard which gives it a warm tone. I got a bit lucky with this one, as it has beautifully and bright flamed maple on the side of the neck (see picture) and headstock.
It comes with a single humbucker in the close-to-bridge-stingray-position, though its size is close to an EMG 35DC (which is actually a popular replacement for this bass for those who want to go active). The bridge is one large chunk of metal and is pretty heavy giving it a very nice sustain for a shortscale. It really sounds 'big' with a very elaborate dynamic and amazing depth of tone.
It also comes with the original gig bag, but the zipper on this one is broken unfortunately. It can probably be repaired, but I never got round to it.
