Here's an absolutely gorgeous vintage Martin!
This 1970 Martin D-28 is awesome. It's made with a Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back/sides, a Mahogany neck, and an Ebony fingerboard. It has a nut width of 1.702", a 25.5" scale length, and it weighs 4 pounds 10 ounces. It's all original, save for a bone saddle added recently, along with a fresh neck reset by Delgado Guitars here in Nashville. It plays and sounds amazing. There is no pickup installed, and it comes with its original hard shell case, which is in very good condition.
This guitar sounds is in very good condition. It sounds great and the action is right where it needs to be. There's some minor play wear, like very minor pick scratches and weather checking, but nothing major whatsoever. It has excellent sustain and a full warm tone that 28's are known for.
This guitar is specifically dated to February 27, 1970. If you're familiar with the Martin guitar construction process, a guitar dated early one year was actually assembled late the previous year. This information has been provided by a rep from Martin's Archives department. It was stamped in 1970, but made in 1969 with all the exact same specs. There are many opinions on Martins made in the 70's, but this was no doubt made in 69 and has all the exact same specs for that year, i.e. Indian Rosewood.
Don't miss out, because this is a killer guitar. Thanks for looking!
