ampex 440 transport

This is a 440 unit for parts.  I began attempting to repair it and then took it to my tech who advised it could be a can of worms so I'm selling it as is.  That being said this thing is full of valuable parts and most of it is working great.  The heads are great, everything on the front panel is moving beautifully, etc.  It was a well maintained machine that got damaged in shipping on the back.  Seems like it got dropped by the brake arm.  I don't have the knowledge to part it out, etc.  So I'm selling it at a reasonable price as is.

Here is the info my tech gave me.

The back panel where the audio modules connect for power is bent inward in the center so that the whole panel is bowed in.  The metal bracket for the fast forward motor is also bent almost 30 degrees off from the position it should be in.  This also is connected to the brakes, so would affect the performance of braking when stopping or reversing.  This is a mechanical function which works with a relay and spring, so would have to be straightened out or replaced and the spring adjusted to get the tension correct.  This is a very important adjustment for proper performance of the machine.

The tape guide on the swing arm is snapped off, which means that it cannot have tape loaded onto it until replaced.

The hardware that holds the left tape guide in place is broken off and missing.  It cannot handle tape without falling out of place without the hardware to anchor it to the deck.

Upon first power up without tape loaded, within 5 minutes it overheated, smoked and created more damage internally.  This may be due to things shaken loose during the shipping process.
