JCM 800 2203 with SLO mod done by Bill Sundt & Mike Soldano. 

*This is a very special head and a one of a kind piece*

This head started off as a 1985 Marshall JCM 800 2203. Fortunately, this amp was one of the last few that were spared and was made with the full 5 filter capacitors, before Marshall reduced the the amount o 3, in order to cut costs. 

What sets this amp apart is that years ago, Bill Sundt and Mike Soldano decided to gut the amp and re-voice the preamp circuit to what would later become the Soldano SLO (super lead overdrive) specs. They also changed the values of most of the caps. A tube buffered effects loop was added and an extra tube gain stage was added as well. External bias points were added so you can plug in a multimeter and easily bias the tubes without having to take the amp apart. 

This JCM has the ever elusive Drake transformers and choke, which are no longer made and difficult to find.

If you've been considering an SLO head, you know they go for $4500 new. This head is essentially the prototype for what became the Soldano SLO. Most of the gear snobs I've had plugged into this head start by saying, "Yah, yah, I know all about the 80's JCM 800s," and then their jaws hit the floor and they are astounded when they hear it. This is so MUCH more than just an 80's JCM.
