This is a stellar unit! I’ve had this exact dual tape deck since I was kid with the matching receiver, and it seriously blows a lot of similar units completely out of the water! It sounds so good!

Kenwood is awesome. The audio repair person I have work on vintage stereo stuff is all about these old Japanese-made Kenwood units, they’re made of super high quality components and sound fantastic. Certain albums need to be listened to on tape. You can’t listen to The Cure on Spotify, that’s honestly pure sacrilege. The Cure needs to be listened to on cassette along with all the other great albums that were released during the golden age of cassette. Albums that came out during the height of the cassette era were mixed and mastered for cassette and meant to be played on decks like this one, and there’s something awesome about listening to an album on the medium and device it was intended for.
giants like Sony that cast a huge shadow over smaller producers like Kenwood and JVC, but the quality with Kenwood is there over brand recognition. This one sounds super fantastic. Great for making mixtapes and one off tape pressings for band merch, sounds amazing for just chilling and listening to albums on cassette, and it’s a totally killer tool in the studio. You will be totally amazed at how good recording acoustic guitar, drums, and synths directly onto this thing sounds. The onboard line in preamps that drive the RCA inputs sound fantastic. You can run in any mixer into the back and the sky is totally the limit. I’ve recorded entire live bands right onto these decks and they sound so good! Really cool character and tape sound that is so distinctly different from a digital setup. It’s also very killer for making tape prints of tracks directly off of your digital setup! Drums come back punchier, acoustic guitars and vocals come back with perfect natural compression, and synths just get exactly how you want them to sound.

Overall the condition is really good! There’s some scratches on top from a unit that was on top of it, but most importantly everything works absolutely perfectly. It’s ready for a home hi-fi or studio setup. Killer unit!
