About This Listing
1966 fender mustang with original case! Daphne blue finish. See pictures for detail shots of inside and out, neck pocket, pot dates, etc. An amazing guitar with a ton of life left! Some wear from storing an curly cable in the case with the guitar, but nothing that affects playability at all. It did mark the finish with curly lines that show wood underneath. Switches have a little scratch in the normal places but I haven’t cleaned them or worn them back in from playing it since I want to keep it as closet clean as possible. No whammy. Please let me know if you have any questions or need more info. Rock on!
Introduced just before the CBS takeover of Fender, the Mustang was part of a redesign of Fender's line of student level guitars which included the Duo-sonic and Musicmaster. The Mustang offered somewhat more sophisticated electronics than earlier student guitars and also featured a 24-inch scale length. In its earliest era, the Mustang was available in a shorter 22 1/2-inch scale length, but these guitars are very uncommon. Since being discontinued in 1982, the Mustang has been reissued a number of times, and has found some popularity among alternative and indie rock players.
Years of Production: 1964 - 1982
Body Style: Offset solidbody
Wood Composition: Alder body, Maple neck with veneer Rosewood fingerboard
Design Elements: Bolt-on neck, dot inlays, two single-coil pickups with no visible pole-pieces, tremolo tailpiece, two on/off pickup switches, master volume and tone controls
Finish Specifications: Daphne Blue is an original finish for the Mustang.
Notable Players: Kurt Cobain, John Frusciante, David Byrne
