Brand spankin' new, 2015 "Piggy-In-A-Box" from, you guessed it, Pignose. I have three of these currently, and I believe all of them to be malfunctioning.
Whenever I would use the preamp out I would get unusable crackling noises, when I contacted the manufacturer he told me that they (Pignose) had just recently tested all of their inventory and assured me that everything is in working order; however, when I took it to the local repairman he sung me a different song. He said that the crackling that I was hearing was a fried, but easily replaceable OP chip, or something like that. The speaker out works just fine, for some reason it's just that preamp-out that seems to be making noise. You be the judge.
Description:
Griping aside, I think that, when functioning, this is a tremendous sounding and truly versatile piece of equipment fit for most any genre of music. For those who are not familiar with Pignose, Pignose grew to prominence in the early 1970's for selling what is widely considered the world's first portable guitar amp, the Pignose Legendary 7-100, a one knob amp that ran on 6 AA batteries. Since then, Pignose amps have been in the hands of virtually every great rock'n'roller of the past century including: The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Led Zepplin, The Who, The Rolling Stones,The Band and the great Frank Zappa. Of all those names, Frank Zappa, Eric Clapton, and Joe Walsh have all used the legendary 7-100 in the studio.
From the Pignose site:
"Piggy-In-A-Box (yes, Piggy-In-A-Box) puts a Legendary Pignose 7-100 amplifier into a stomp box, allowing the player to dial in as much of that notorious ragged "Pignose Sound" as necessary - from tasty overdrive to metal overkill."
Features:
These sell off of Pignose's site for $79.95 plus a whopping $20 for shipping. I've knocked them down to $30 or best offer, I am willing to trade and work with people.
