About This Listing

Up for sale, a 2020 Fender Traditional 50s left-handed Telecaster in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This “Made in Japan” Telecaster is a model rarely seen outside of its country of origin and not designed for export to the USA, boasting a prominent ‘50s-spec U-shaped neck profile carve, brass saddles, and a pair of vintage-voiced single coils.

The natural acoustic response of the instrument has plenty of chime and brightness, pairing a one-piece maple neck with a basswood body. The pickup pair offers ample twang at the bridge and a rounder, bell-like tone at the neck, with a clear percussive cut in every position on the three-way toggle. Weighing 7lbs 4oz, this Telecaster has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action and spot-on intonation.

The one-piece maple neck has a chunky U-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder in every register, measuring .880” deep at the 1st fret and .940” at the 12th. The maple fingerboard features pristine stock vintage-spec slender fretwire, and the guitar plays cleanly in all registers up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures 1 5/8” in width. On the headstock, the era-appropriate “Fender ‘Telecaster’” script logo and Kluson-style Gotoh-made tuning machines are present. The tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with gleaming nickel plating on their gear housings.

All the electronics work as intended, with USA-made CTS pots for the Master Volume and Tone controls and a three-way pickup selector switch. Hardware includes the string through body bridge with brass saddles, dome top knurled knobs, and control control plate; all are in exceptional condition, with just the faintest hint of patina atop the brass saddles. Plastics include the one-ply black pickguard which has some requisite scuffing along the pick path. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Butterscotch finish includes some faint finish scratches in the clear coat, a small finish chip on the bass-side lower bout edge, and a few small dings just north of the bridge. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is immaculate.

The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
