Up for sale is this vintage 1950's unbranded acoustic parlor guitar. This guitar will require work to be playable and is sold "AS IS" and "AS FOUND", so please read the entire description and see all of the photos.
When we first saw this guitar, our immediate thoughts were that it was refinished. Upon inspection, however, the cool counter-top looking turquoise finish is original to the instrument. We have never seen one of these in this color and it's pretty wild!
This instrument is unbranded, but is identical to the build-style of Silvertone, Kay, Harmony, and the such. The instrument is all original, down to the original single line Kluson strip tuning keys.
This instrument has the following known issues:
- the original Kluson keys need to be rebuttoned, but are in otherwise nice condition.
- the neck does show typical relief that we are used to seeing on these and the action is high.
- the fret ends are sharp along the sides of the fretboard.
- the original finish shows wear, including a lot of chips long the back and sides.
This guitar could be tuned up for slide as it sits and a cool slide guitar that it would make, along with a very cool wall-hanger, or it could be restored to prime playability. It's all up to you...
No case or gig bag is included, but the guitar will be well-packed to ensure safe shipping.
