Here we have an uncirculated 1953 Fender Telecaster refinished about 35 years ago and purchased from it's original owner 50 years ago.  The family's story goes that the husband was not a professional in fact he never played out in public, not even once yet owned a dozen or more guitars and many items to go along with them.  This Tele was his pride and joy.  The family wants to find a good home for his favorite guitar.

The finish is very nice and is a cross between more of an Olympic White with an almost 'creamy light butterscotch' someone said, yet you cannot see any grain underneath.  I am certain the refinisher must have used Dupont paint as it looks as good as any vintage Fender finish I have ever seen in the past 50 years.
It's got the look.
I got 'very' excited putting on some fresh Ernie Ball .10-.46 strings, tuning her up and plugging in to an old Blackface Vibrolux Reverb if you can imagine.  WOW,, were talking big time TONE here folks.
The neck has a great feel with the original frets in very good slightly worn shape with a lot of fret left.  Notice the truss rod neck adjusting tip is slotted with Tadeo Gomez's initials TG and pencil dated 4-14-53.  The neck has been completly oversprayed with fretboard wear right thru the overspray as seen in pictures.  The black dots have little pits in them as that is what happens when you use paint remover on old Fender dots.  Those tiny pits do 'not' effect the playability in any way whatsoever.  Nut width is 1 5/8".  Neck thickness at the first fret is .930 & .985 at the 12th. fret.  Neck has a very nice thicker kind of feel.  Almost unpronounced 'V' feel a bit chunky but not a baseball bat.
If this was my guitar I would lightly sand down the back of the neck and get rid of some of the overspray.  That's me.  We will leave that to the upcoming 3rd. owner.

Notice the neck pocket.
Very interesting writing that says Eddie 3-12-53.
'We researched it and his name is Eddie Mendoza who worked with Tomeo and Leo Fender', and his name is seen above the pencil date which coinsides with the neck date 4-14-53'.

So this guitar 'is' very original except for the following:

Body is refinished and the neck had a complete overspray long ago.
The pickguard is a single ply black guard, not original but old.
Pots were changed out in 1987 when it was refinished with CTS R-1378728 USA pots.
When the neck pickup was taken out to repaint the body, a few non original wires were used when putting the pickups and wiring harness back in.
There is a small rout under the pickguard when a different
switch was once added before refinishing.
Later that switch was was removed.

The rest of the wiring harness except for the changed pots appears to be fully original and the guitar is wired exactly like an early 50's Telecaster should be.  Many players prefer to change that original wiring scheme to todays more traditional wiring.  Man, you can get some AMAZING tones with this original wiring scheme and those original pickups especially the bridge pickup just SCREAMS.
The only word left I can use to describe how this almost 60 year old guitar plays is, SUPERB.

Lot's of guitars, amplifiers, rack gear, they wanted a lot of stuff with LOTS of KNOBS!!

Last fall we landed another movie bit in a film called 'Miracle in Detroit'
starring Smokey Robinson.  We had a scene with our shop 'our 10 minutes of fame' in that movie showed on the Lifetime channel all the way through last November until Christmas day the 25th!
The scene with our shop took place in the first 15 minutes of the movie!
