This is the 5th of 10 guitars I'm making from plans drawn from a 1957 J-45.  I used Adirondack spruce for the soundboard, and back and sides are from s piece of Walnut native to here in Virginia. The high polished, high gloss nitro finish really shows the beautiful grain on this wood. Ebony heel cap, headstock veneer from and back, as well as the bridge. Nice open gear Grover Sta-tite tuners. All shell is genuine. The ebony fingerboard is a compound radius, starting at 9.5, and gradually flattening out to 17 at the 20th fret.  Cocobolo purfling on the top, back binding, and outer rosette rings. Hand cut (by moi) ebony, walnut, and maple tail graft. Quartersawn Mahogany neck head, and tail block. Bone nut and saddle. Please check out the knot in the cocobolo.  I left it intentionally, as it looks cool. The binding on the front, and purfling on the back is maple.
This heirloom quality beauty is a not a kit.  I've been building full time for two years, and offering my first guitars for sale at a tremendous price. I build using centuries old techniques, and most of the work is done with hand tools. Unlike most luhiers, I don't use molds during the build process. I believe that, though freebuilding requires greater skill, it produces a guitar with fewer internal stresses.  Using a mold, one can be a little sloppy in some aspects of the build, and just clamp it into the mold, even if it has to be forced.  Happy Dog Guitars is incorporated in Virginia, and guitars are warranted for life.  As with all Happy Dog guitars, 10% of the purchase price will go to our Regional Animal Shelter, or to the animal shelter of your choice. A receipt will be provided.
Thanks so much for checking out my post!
