Fender introduced the innovative Vibrasonic amplifier in 1959 as the very first brownface model, yet somehow this high-end amp has flown under the radar ever since. The Vibrasonic was the sleeper vintage Fender but the world is waking up to its incredible pulsating vibrato, thunderous power and smooth overdriven tones. The JJ tube chart stamp (October 1960) and low serial number in the 200 range mean this is one of the very first.
The original Triad power transformer is stamped with part number 67233 on the internal bell cover. The original choke is stamped with date code 606-035 for the 35th week of 1960. The output transformer appears correct and is a Fender service replacement part from the 42nd week of 1962, stamped with "FENDER" and the date code 606-242.
This Vibrasonic has been fully tested and serviced by my amp technician. Work included installing a grounded 3 prong grey plug, new filter caps, a few additional caps & resistors and reconing the 15" JBL speaker. The speaker lead is from a slightly later 1960's Fender amplifier, and some of the output tubes were replaced with modern equivalents. The photographs highlight the wear and tear on the brown tolex, which has a pleasing patina from age. After the maintenance work, this vintage Fender Vibrasonic sounds amazing and looks just as cool. Ships with a reproduction foot switch.
