Hello and welcome to the House of Chrome.

You are looking at a somewhat rare Shure Brother's 737 A microphone produced during the 1940's through the 1960's. This particular model was an early 1st generation late 40's to mid 50's era model and nicknamed "The Waffle Iron" for obvious reasons. It comes with the unique 3 pin mic cable shown in which to operate as well as the male 1/4 inch detachable connector.

Pic # 2 is from an old Shure catalog I have showing the mics basic specs.

This mic particular model was used in the older 1980's flick La Bamba and is one of the most outrageous and beautiful designs to come from Shure Brothers over the years.

The satin chrome finish has extremely lite cosmetic wear associated for a 737A of this age and they rarely come any nicer as seen in the pics provided. This specimen has an amazing luster to it as well. Let the pics be your guide. The front, side and rear inner burgundy silk screens have no rips or holes. Hard to see even up close. The grills have zero dents or fractures. There is just some very small spots of pitting but very subtle.

Again the Shure badge is a rare design and looks pretty nice being completely legible. The joint mechanism works perfectly. The threads for the stand and cable as good as they get.

All 737 A model microphones were equipped with a crystal cardioid elements. The element in this is 737A is a uni-directional element and has 100% working output but these mics were specifically design to be powered with good pre-amps to get the full rich sound. This would make an excellent display piece as well even if you don't want to use it.

The mic is solid with no loose pieces inside or out. These mics are notorious for having a loose element inside. I fix this problem so that nothing rattles around by replacing the foam mounts with new ones. I would rate this a very conservative 9 on a scale of 1 - 10.

You'll see there is a short cable included. The cable is just 4 feet inches long being soft, pliable and free of damage. Once attached to the mic you can use a longer female XLR to male 1/4 inch cable as an extension for your audio equipment.  An XLR to XLR extension cable won't work. Again, female XLR to male 1/4 inch and you're good to go! There is a male 1/4 inch end connector included that may or may not use depending on your audio equipment but it gives you the option to run the short cable as is. The male 1/4 inch connector is in excellent physical and operating condition.

MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.

This mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have.

As with all my vintage microphones...
