About This Listing

The SF28CE is an OO style folk guitar made with a solid Sitka top and rosewood back and sides. Like all Sigma models it is very much a traditional style instrument with a modern, open sound.

Being a smaller body guitar the tone is tighter and a little higher than Sigma's dreadnoughts but due to the bracing the SF28 is still surprisingly powerful with great projection. Again like the dreadnoughts Sigma uses a scalloped, forward shifted X bracing system allowing more of the soundboard to generate vibration resulting in a lively and exciting little guitar to play.

The SF28CE is different to the SF18 in that it produces a wider tonal palette with stronger bass and trebles, unlike the 18 that is stronger in the mid range. Both are excellent and its really down to personal preference which will suit you better.

Without doubt this guitar is perfect for folk and blues but can really handle big open chord strumming very well too.

This is Sigma's acoustic electric model with the fantastic SET65 dual pickup system and EQ from B-BAND. A premium system which recreates the guitars natural tone when plugged in and allows the player to find the sound they need for different playing styles by blending between the under saddle, or bridge plate pick up. The system also had a three band graphic EQ and digital, backlit tuner.

Traditional components such as a real bone nut and saddle, mahogany neck with a dovetail joint and rosewood bridge and fingerboard add to its tonal capabilities and overall quality, and cosmetically it’s a true classic with ivory ABS binding and inlays.

This guitar was rated NVR, no visible repair, which means all the refurbisher did was a professional setup, there were no other issues that needed to be addressed.  Going to the refurbisher saves you cash, which is always a good thing.

Why buy a refurbished guitar?

I specialize in manufacturer refurbished instruments because I believe they are a tremendous value.  These instruments have actually passed more quality tests than those that go straight from the manufacturer to a music store.  These instruments do not have major flaws, they have had a minor issue such as a slight finish blemish or perhaps an electrical issue such as a loose solder joint.  I buy my instruments from the largest, and in my opinion the best, refurbishing center in the country located near Nashville.  They are staffed with factory trained luthiers who take great pride in the products they put up for sale.  Each instrument must pass 5 tests before it is released for sale.  Some of the models are discontinued and have no issues at all.  Each instrument is stamped used and issued a new serial number.  This is to prevent unethical retailers from selling these instruments as new rather than refurbished, because a refurbished instrument does not carry the manufacturer warranty.  I live close enough to Nashville that I travel to the factory and pick out my guitars myself.  I play each one prior to listing it for sale.  You can be assured if I would not be proud to give it as a gift, I will not take it.

The pictures in my listings are ALWAYS of the actual instrument that is listed, I never use stock photos for a refurbished instrument.  If I know why the instrument was sent for refurbishing I will put it in the listing, however many of them are rated NVR, which means no visible repair.  Please email me with any questions you have, you will find that I give very detailed answers.  I am a musician first, and that drives my choice of instruments to sell and the detail that I give in answering any questions.

Thanks for looking!
