Hello, fellow percussion enthusiasts. I hate to let this one go, but I'm also excited to think of the next person enjoying this gorgeous-sounding bass drum. Perhaps that next person is you.
The MLX drums were late 1980s/early 1990s vintage and were top of the line in every way. This kick does not disappoint along those lines. To me, it sounds exactly what I imagine a maple kick sounding like in my head. It's 16" in depth so you get great punch. The 6-ply 7.5mm thick (I believe) all-maple shell just has tone and resonance for days!
The shell is in lovely condition, with a finish on the wood plies that looks like it could have been manufactured yesterday.
The Pearl factory lacquer color is # 108, charcoal mist, I believe.
Score an amazing pre-Masters maple kick while you can. Specimens this nice are not that common.
Note: in the time I've owned this drum, I've experienced no issues with the long lugs whatsoever. They all work fine. I know that's a concern at times with these drums.
