This is an early production Pre-CBS “Stacked Pot” Jazz Bass w/all the 1st issue features at an affordable price point, it had its original Blonde finish stripped leaving a beautiful natural finished grainy Ash body, these 1st Jazz Basses are ridiculously rare, its “Unbound” Slab Rosewood Clay Dot neck is dated 7/61 & was refinished using Fenders newer larger logo c.1970. It’s sporting a very low serial # (55XXX) stamped on its 4-bolt neck plate, its sporting a nice older black pickgard, its 2 pickups are super smooth w/that quintessential “Jaco” sound !, its stacked pot date codes are from the 8th week of 1961, its original control cavity has the early type copper solder plates, its so cool from its nickel tuners to its threaded saddle bridge w/outside ground wire in place, this is 1 of Leo’s earliest Jazz Basses & has a vibey patina for a 62 year old, it plays & feels incredible, she’s excellent overall & comes complete w/a nice padded gig bag.
