This is a near-mint, 100% original, virtually unplayed Epiphone Casino from the limited edition produced in 2011 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the very first iteration of the Casino in 1961.
This guitar sports a pair of USA-made Gibson dog-eared P-90s with vintage-correct two-conductor, braided shielding wire and black plastic covers. Other electronics faithful to the original include an upgraded Switchcraft 3-way toggle switch and Switchcraft ¼” output jack. These features alone put this version of the Casino in a special class of its own!
Unique features that were never offered beyond 1961 include the pre-Gibson era triangle metal logo badge on the headstock, dot fingerboard inlays, a blank 2-ply bullet truss rod cover, and a tortoise-colored pickguard with foil “E.” Other unique details include the period-correct burst patterns on the front and back, a neck join at the 16th fret, upgraded Wilkinson vintage-style tuners with white buttons and even the historically accurate rectangle blue label inside the body!
All-in-all this is an uncommon Casino of particularly high-quality that Epiphone will not be producing in the future – “When they’re gone, they’re gone!,” they’ve said.
No fret wear, no dings or scratches – absolutely beautiful! Comes with an original-style and unique hard case with gray exterior and blue plush interior. Also comes with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity (only 1961 were made!) and all of the other case candy that was included when this edition was originally sold.
