Overview

Though the original 1952 design was intended and marketed as a bass guitar amplifier, guitar players all over quickly adopted these venerable amps as their own thanks to amazing breakup and beefy bottom end. The "Black Panel" Bassman amps with AA165 and AB165 circuits from the mid-60s are often heralded as the cream of the crop for classic rock tones, and their ability to take pedals well makes them a great choice for the modern player with a packed pedal board. Here on Reverb, you'll find a great selection of these amps, both in their original "Piggyback" configuration and just the heads by themselves.
