Godin Electric Guitar 2008 Progression Trans Cream
with Godin deluxe gig bag
This Godin Progression is in very good condition, and has
upgraded Pickups, controls, tuners and control knobs. Included is a Godin gig
bag. Stock pickups and controls have been replaced with Seymour Duncan “Hot
Rails” dual-blade humbuckers, which can be split to single coils for the
traditional Strat tones, or be used as humbuckers for a more ballsy tone. There
is the traditional 5-way Strat style pickup selector, and the original Godin
"Revoicer" circuit & pushbutton has been replaced with a mini
toggle switch to change the pickups from single coil to humbuckers. This
arrangement gives you 10 tones, 5 with single coil tones, and 5 with the hum
buckers.
I will ship the guitar with the original pickups and controls in
a separate bag in case you want them.

The Godin Progressions have really good reviews on
music vendor sites, and this one has some special modifications that put it a
step above the stock progressions out there. The previous owner did the mods,
and it looks like he did a neat & tidy job of re-wiring it. I have never
had any issues with the electronics, they really sound great. I really like the
pickups in this guitar, and considered pulling them out and keeping them to put
in another guitar someday, but I decided to sell it as is. I like the Godin
revoicer circuit, but having real humbuckers available at the flick of a switch
is very nice. In single coil mode they have pretty good “Strat Spank” tones in
position #2 & #4, and sound like good quality true single coils. They also
have good “Strat-like” tones in humbucking mode when played through a clean amp
channel, but meatier with more body, and gain, and are pretty much completely
hum free in this mode.
Known defects:
There are no major functional issues but there are a few minor
defects which are described here and shown in the pictures.
· There’s
some minor pick hazing on the finish on the front - normal wear and tear,
nothing significant.
· There’s a small scratch in the
finish hear the bridge & volume control where I slipped with a screwdriver
while adjusting the bridge.
· Also, I pulled
the bridge inserts, and put in a different set of inserts to fit a bridge I put
in for a while. Drilled hole for the insert was right above the tremolo route
cavity on the back side, and there wasn't a lot of wood between them and I
broke out a small chip of wood at the bottom of the hole into the tremolo route
cutout on the back.
I have replaced the stock Godin inserts and
tremolo bridge. I filled the hole that broke out into the tremolo cavity with
some wood filler. I’m mentioning this to be completely transparent. This has zero effect on the
function, sound or playability of the guitar. The inserts are in there solid &
glued in place. The defect is below the insert, and is only visible if you look
for it in the tremolo spring cavity on the back of the guitar. It’s completely superficial and
invisible in normal use.
Other than these minor flaws, the guitar is in excellent
condition. It plays and sounds great. I have owned several mid-level Fender
Stratocasters that are not as nice playing or sounding as this guitar. Godin
makes some very nice instruments.
I have the bridge set up “Floating”, and
adjusted for .010’s that are on the guitar currently. You may prefer to set
this up differently but that’s the way I like it, and it plays well as it is
IMHO. When I got the guitar, there was no tremolo bar supplied with the bridge,
so I bought a replacement from Stewart-McDonald.
