About This Listing

This pedal is a the final prototype of an updated version of the Choral Reef analog chorus.

I removed the 3-way mode switch from the original, and extended the range of the width/time knob to make that switch unnecessary. I also flattened out the EQ response and installed a trimpot to set the maximum feedback level (can self-oscillation if you want). I also made improvements to the noise floor of the input & mix sections.

Finally, I converted the pedal from the old VFE format to one with top mounted jacks, so it takes up less space on your pedalboard. I do not have a launch date yet - I am too busy with the Klein Bottle launch at the moment - but it should be out by the end of 2018. This is the only one I have built so far.

DESCRIPTION - The Choral Reef analog chorus pedal took 2 years and many failed attempts to perfect. The result was a no-compromise design built upon an expensive, out-of-production MN3008 bucket brigade chip to satisfy VFE’s high standards for noise, headroom, and versatility. A whole host of chorus tones are available, including flanger and vibrato. The unique feedback circuitry lets you add a touch of resonance or dive into deep modulated chaos that rings on after you stop playing.

SPEED - controls the speed of the chorus

DEPTH - controls the depth of the chorus

MIX - blends between the dry and wet signals

TIME - controls the delay time of the chorus line, which affects the flavor of the
chorus (longer delay times increase the noise of the BBD chip)

FEEDBACK - adds feedback into the circuit, adding resonance & repeats with longer delay times

INTERNAL CONTROLS - The right trimpot controls the max feedback level, the bottom left trimpot biases the bucket brigade chip for maximum headroom, and the top left trimpot affects brightness of the LED indicator.

POWER - Accepts the industry standard, 9 to 15 VDC, negative-tip power supply. It CANNOT be powered with a 9V battery.

FREE SHIPPING via USPS Priority inside the USA, $15 to Canada & $20 everywhere else with USPS First Class International. All VFE Pedals include a 1-year warranty on parts & labor.
