Jon's SG-Cruellacaster Black/White/Gold Sparkle with Gold Foil Pickup

This is an SG I was inspired to build after seeing Disney's Cruella with Emma Stone! The body is split black and white like Cruella's iconic yin/yang style haircut. The back of the body with the pinstriping was modelled after Cruella's leather vest. The gold sparkle headstock is referencing Cruella's gold sparkle pants. (Kind of goofy, but fun!)

It has a very light mahogany body. I plugged in the original bridge/tailpieces holes and opted for a top-load Golden Age bridge. The neck pickup is a red Lowrider "Gold Foil." It has a crisp and sparkly tone! The bridge pickup is a Kent Armstrong mini humbucker that delivers a squashy punch. The tuning machines are Gotoh vintage-style ones with white buttons. The bolt-on neck is from an Epiphone SG-upgraded with a bone nut. The frets are levelled/polished and super smooth! The wiring is the same as a Fender Mustang: each pickup has individual switches, the center position of each switch turns it off, the left or right position turns it on. If both switches are pointing the same direction the pickups are in phase, if the switches are pointed opposite directions the pickups are out of phase. The bridge pickup is a little noisy in one position, so I shielded around it- which keeps the pickups quieter. Aside from the dazzling appearance, there are several cosmetic issues: there are cracks and flaws in the nitrocellulose lacquer (I tried acrylic and polyurethane paints but they did not give me the appearance I wanted). I purposely added checking which is typically only found on vintage guitars, but it adds another cool effect like rippled leather. It weighs only 6 lbs! It plays great and gets a lot of attention ;).
