1973 Mosrite 6/12 Double Neck.
This 1973 Mosrite 6/12 double neck is in very good vintage cosmetic condition and is in excellent working and playing order. This guitar has had the vibrato tailpiece removed from the six string side and a stop tailpiece has been installed. Both bridges are later replacements. This guitar was refinished red at some time in its life (I’m assuming after the stop tailpiece installation). Personally, I think the red finish looks great!
This guitar has spent the last 25 or so years serving “double duty” in a Memphis, Tennessee, recording studio. Both necks on this guitar play great up and down the fingerboard and it’s a total blast to sit and play. This guitar would make an exceptional utility instrument for studio use and will probably turn some heads when used for live performance. This 6/12 was outfitted from the factory with the Mosrite “push button” humbucking pickups, although the button has been removed and there is a white plug in the pickguard where the button used to be. These Mosrite humbuckers are quite rare. I’ve personally only seen a handful of Mosrite instruments that were equipped with them and this is the only double neck I’ve ever seen with them. I’m not saying there aren’t a few more out there, but I believe they are quite scarce.
The potentiometers in this guitar are original and date to the 44th week of 1973. All of the electronics are functioning perfectly and this guitar sounds absolutely fantastic. The 12 string portion of the guitar is one of the better sounding electric 12s that I’ve heard and the six string side also sounds excellent. This thing is perfect for any kind instrumental surf to wild hillbilly stuff. It’s ready to go and needs nothing except a new loving owner. If you are looking for a super cool utility double neck, then I don’t think you can go wrong with this Mosrite. A gem of a guitar shipped safely and promptly from our little shop in Clarksville, Tennessee, to your front door.
