A true work of art by one of our favorite local builders, Mill City Lutherie. The Taconite Short Scale Bass gives you access to huge bass tones that span over a plethora of genres. It features a bookmatched Walnut top with a chambered Ash core, a 24 fret Titanium reinforced Walnut neck with gorgeous maples accents, a Zircote fingerboard, and custom hand-made J Bass style humbucking pickups. Each pickup has it's own push/pull volume knob for a light or dark tonal option and is also switchable between series or parallel. MCL also includes a beautifully voiced piezo pickup with an Acousti-phonic preamp that you can blend into your sound. The piezo pickup, coupled with the Taconite's chambered body, possesses an organic, complex, and commanding sound that will surely satisfy any player that needs to access double bass or acoustic voicings. The best part about all this tonal flexibility is that you get usable tones at any setting.
