Aria Pro II TS-600 1979/1980
An increasingly rare Aria Pro II TS-600. This top-of-the-line "Thor-Sound" model was built at the Matsumoku manufacturing plant in 1980 at the height of the golden age of Japanese guitar manufacturing. Frets were just leveled last month and the guitar is set up and plays great (photos were taken prior to fret job).
Most folks would describe the condition as excellent -- it really is in remarkable shape for a 35+ year old instrument. The 2 red circles in the photos show the only blemishes on the guitar.
This early version of the TS-600 (1980 based on the 6-in-line tuners) is a solidly-built, well crafted instrument. It is all original and fully functional. The neck-thru design of 5 ply maple/walnut with ash body wings and a string-thru-body bridge with chrome saddles, a brass nut, and Kluson- style Aria Pro II tuners.
It comes loaded with 2 original, high output Protomatic III humbucking pickups ( a.k.a. MMK53). They read about 11.8k ohms with ceramic magnets. They are very similar to a 70s DiMarzio Super Distortion.
Specifications:
- Onboard booster amp (to my ears an onboard DOD overdrive)
- Phase switch
- Coil split switch for each pickup (NOT parallel/series as indicated in photo)
- 6 position Varitone switch
- 5 ply maple/walnut Transit neck
- Brass nut
- Ebony fingerboard
- 24 frets
- Ash body with maple center block, walnut stripes
- Walnut finish
- 25.5" scale length
- ~8 lbs
OHSC included. A bit worn (that's it's job, after all), but all of the hinges and latches work fine and the interior is in good condition with no rips or worn patches.
This is a super cool guitar that sounds and plays as good as it looks.
PLEASE NOTE: I am generally only able to ship Thursday - Saturday. If you purchase early in in the week, please understand that the guitar may not ship until the following Thursday. Be assured I will get the guitar out as quickly as I can.
