Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome.
You are looking at a very unique and rarer Japanese dynamic cardioid microphone from the 1960's era. It the Rheem model D-823 and it's in excellent working condition with original element. It's only the second example I have ever offered for sale on Ebay. It comes with the original cable in which to operate.
I don't know a lot about The Rheem Microphone Company or the mics offered as it's a bit off my radar but I do know that they were a high quality brand and their mics sound fantastic. Certainly worthy of studio work. This D-823 has the practical High / Low Z switch giving the user more options depending on the type of audio equipment you are planning to use this with. The cardioid element does a great job of eliminating background noise as well. Signal strength is very nice a swell.
The D-843 is a larger microphone with a bit of weight to it. About twice the size of an E.V 636. It has an all metal body with satin chrome and black painted finish. You'll notice there are a few spots of wear on the mics black tube but otherwise in fantastic physical condition. The joint mechanism has plenty of tension to get the right angle needed. The on / off & High Z / Low Z switch works perfectly. You'll notice this mic takes a unique 3 pin cable that is included.
The 3 pin cable is a rare Japanese design that is specific to the Rheem models. The cable is soft, pliable and 15 feet in length. It has a standard male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most audio equipment and all guitar amplifiers.
The threads for both the cable attachment and stand are in perfect shape. This mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand you have.
I'd give the mic a solid 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10. Again, very rare Japanese dynamic mic that will only increase in value if properly taken care of.
MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY.
I do have several period stands for sale if one is needed. Because this is a top heavy model mic that protrudes outward I would highly suggest using a desk stand with a heavier, wider base to keep this mic from tipping easily.
As with all my vintage microphones...
I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and the item will be relisted. Domestic and foreign buyer will get priority shipping.
If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
