Rare and only made for a short time, 1958-60, the National Val-Trol Junior model was made in the USA by Valco in 1960 (serial: #T45506.) This model has the same pickup and switch layout as the National Westwood model, but adapted on to the National Val-Trol body.
The single cut wooden body was finished in "ivory white" which has yellowed over the years. The electronics feature both a neck humbucker (weak output), and a bridge pickup incorporated into the clear plastic adjustable base, three blend switches, 3 way pickup selector, and master volume present. Patina'd gold plated hanging tailpiece and the body has lots of nice looking checking and wear present; pickguard 'Val-Trol JR' logo present but faded.
The short 22" scale neck has a rosewood board w/ 1-5/8" wide nut, and bound peghead with plastic National emblem; Replacement Golden Age Vintage-style 3-On-Plate Tuners in relic nickel have been installed. The original Kluson tuners w/ white plastic "butterfly" knobs are in the case; black paint on back of neck with lots of play wear present. Includes later hard case.
