Up for sale is a ONE OF A KIND RARE 1990 Hamer FB VIII Thunderbird 8 string bass. Custom Made for Tom Petersson from Cheap Trick. Used with a short stint with Concrete Blonde (Can be heard on the CD "Walking In London") and his return to Cheap Trick and used on the "Busted" tour. You can see several Videos on Youtube-Cheap Trick's "Can't Stop Falling Into Love" and Concrete Blonde on the Dennis Miller Show.
The bass was made in the original Arlington Heights, Illinois Hamer Factory. It has a 1963-65 Nickel Gibson Thunderbird Pickup in the bridge position and a 1965-69 Chrome Gibson Thunderbird pickup in the middle position. Also has an active P Bass style EMG split pickup near the neck. 3 Volume knobs, 3 on/off switches and 3 separate input jacks. This bass is a One-Of-A-Kind...The only one EVER made with this arrow head headstock...and it has a celebrity History. There were 2 other T bird style 8 string basses made a few years before Hamer was closed. But they Both have the classic V headstock. This is One of one EVER made.
I have used this on the Mary's Window "Like A Dirty French Novel" EP, Mary's Window "Not So Pretty On the Inside" cd (Baby Doll Records) and and Diamond Rexx "The Evil" cd (Crash Music).
The sound is versatile and incredible. It's been called the Freight Train, The Panzer Tank...The Wrath Of God.....truly amazing and has a great neck!!!
Insured Shipping via FEDEX will be a flat fee of $150. I would prefer you come pick it up in person. I would also consider an Even Trade for an unbroken, un-repaired 1963-1969 Gibson Thunderbird Bass or a 1966 Sunburst Fender Jazz Bass with dots, NO BINDING and of course...the lollipop tuners.
