Serial numbers: #000543 and #000544
I tested these speakers and I noticed that one tweeter in one speaker (serial #000543) has low volume. I don't believe it's a burned out voice coil issue because if you squeeze the plastic housing gently, the tweeter gets louder and sounds fine. I'm guessing the old ferrofluid oil viscosity has changed and it dampens the voice coil movement.

The tweeter may possibly be cleaned with manual labor instead buying a replacement tweeter part for $220.   Reverb won't let me put a url convenient link so just go to Google and search on  "Fixing Ferrofluid tweeters - How To" and "Removing dried ferrofluid from dome tweeters" to read articles about common ferrofluid issues with older speakers.
However, I can't guarantee that the ferro fluid is the issue and therefore I'm selling these speakers "as-is" with no returns.
I don't think the crossover is damaged because swapping it with the other good tweeter sounds fine, and putting the muffled tweeter on the other speaker makes it still sound muffled. That should rule out the crossover component.

I really don't know if it needs a tweeter replacement. I just simply noticed that gently squeezing the tweeters plastic housing makes it sound loud again so the various troubleshooting articles from google makes me believe it's a ferrofluid issue.

I'm not a speaker repair expert so if my troubleshooting and diagnosis I have described in this description doesn't give you a good idea of the speakers condition, you really shouldn't buy them.

The speakers are in excellent cosmetic condition and sound great. Includes the original boxes and styrofoam packaging. They were purchased in 1998 and I'm the original owner.
Each box weighs 28 pounds. The boxes will be secured with poly-strapping for shipping.
Please study all photos carefully and ask all questions before buying. Thank you.
