I have a very nice specimen here for you. This is a Warwick Thumb bolt on model. German made, from 2004. It comes with a basic roadrunner hardcase.

This Warwick is in VG condition with some average players wear consistent with it's age.

Upon scrutiny of it i see the body top has one indentation in the wood right near where your thumb would rest against the neck pickup. Beyond that i see a scattering of smaller superficial marks. Like little indents that are a millimeter or less with no large or noteworthy marks.

The body edges have a handful or so of superficial small surface marks similar to the small ones i described on the body top.

I can see very faint hairline marks emanating off of the neck pocket. Not nasty big ones like Strat's get. You can slightly see them in the last two pics. Very minor. And not a threat to the structure. The majority of older Warwick's that i see will usually have minor hairline cracks somewhere on the body.

The body back shows a shallow/faint patch of surface worming. Which is not deep ugly scratches, more so light marks that lightly press into the surface of the oil based finished wood. There are scattered minute indentations that are about a millimeter or so in size. But no accumulation of heavy playwear. I can see one little patch where the wood is a little lighter from body contact rubbing. Overall there is nothing horrible back here just a scattering of surface playwear.

The neck is more along the lines of what i view as excellent. I see no marks of note on the shaft or headstock just some light superficial marks. The neck shaft feels and looks and plays great and i am seeing no pits or divots in the frets. The fret material is very hard and does not wear down as easily as nickel silver, i think these are either brass or EVO they have a bronze like color.

Likewise the setup and playability is top notch. This bass plays outstanding. It has a nice medium low action and comfortable string tension and the saddles feel like they are radiused right. It's plays great.

The electronics are stock and working like they should. This is an active 9V setup with the stacked knob being a master high and low adjustable boost.

So overall i will rate this one an 8.0/10 and grade it as VG. This is about the average of what i see on the decent Warwick basses from this era. There are no major ugly marks, nothing structurally wrong with. Due to the nature of a soft oil based finish there are a scattering of surface marks here and there. If desired the beautiful wood could be enhanced by an oil/wax treatment. As is this one does not look to dry and likely had a treatment over the years.

I consider this one an excellent players bass. The newly made German one's are about 3,000$ now if you can find one. This one performs and looks great and what i like is the neck and frets look great here.

I have always been a fan of the Warwick tone, and this comes from the Warwick composition which is unique woods like Wenge and Ovangkol. This gives you a deep, powerful tone, with nice detail across the EQ spectrum.

This model has the active electronics, the knobs allow you to dial that in or keep it as a passive bass. Or dial in a bass and treble boost as desired.

I have also had many a Warwick Corvette. I find that the Thumb is shaped better, it has a deeply and gradually carved cut away on it's body back that really contours well when you are playing this bass from a standing position with a strap. It is not a lightweight bass, but it's ergonomic shape really makes it east to wield standing or sitting.

I really consider every German Warwick bass from this a special instrument. They are really unique and so well put together. Distribution of German made Warwicks is getting very scarce in the USA to since they launched the Rock bass line. So if this is something you are in the market for i really think you are in for a treat.

This bass will be carefully packed, with sufficient filler and bracing in
the shipping box and if needed a little in the case. I will detune the
strings about one half a step prior to shipment. Another step i take is i
will denote for it to be shipped "standing" with arrows drawn on the outer
box and it will be marked fragile as well. It will be meticulously packed.

Thank you for reading and considering!
