This MKA-PLUS mandolin I acquired less than 2 years ago. It needed cleaning and the bridge was in need of replacement. I have never seen this model with a natural finish top available... It is a rare vintage of MK mandolin. Visually stunning and it reminds me of a Gibson A-style model look from the 60s...
Condition - Excellent:
Structurally the mandolin is perfect and frets are 90-95% - The truss cover plate still has the new plastic layer on it. There are a few finish scuffs/nicks that are common for a mandolin of this age. They are not noticeable when looking at the from mandolin 3-4 ft away. (See photos)

I did a completely refit and upgrade. Here is the work done on this mandolin:

- New ebony bridge sanded to a custom fit for this mandolins archtop & saddle slotted with fretboard radius match. (Also positioned for best intonation)
- "Austin Mod" Extended Scoop of the fretboard extension to the 19th fret for access to much thicker chop / harmonic resonance response during performance. (Removed 1 fret and scooped back)
- Complete Fretboard Reconditioning, frets leveled, recrowned, polished, wood cleaned & conditioned (Before reconditioning there was little to no fretwear and it has only since been played to test)
- Nut re-slotted for lowest action possible and radius match to the fretboard.
- Finish hand polished
- Tailpiece upgraded to gold finish cast tailpiece that has been leather strip dampened for stabilization
- Custom Dual/Dual: Quad Pickup System:
* The Endpin has been replaced with a switchcraft stereo 1/4" endpin jack and connected to 4 JJB style custom piezo pickups sealed with acoustic stabilization caps. These are passive and have a strong high-impedance signal for DI boxes, Preamps, and into acoustic amps.
* The Tip connection of the jack is connected to 2 JJB style pickups installed on the top wood under the E-string side of the bridge saddle. One is just inside the center corner of the F-hole and the other is on the other side of the bracing from the F-hole corner.
* The Ring connection of the jack is connected to 2 JJB style pickups installed on the top wood under the G-string side of the bridge saddle. One is just inside the center corner of the F-hole and the other is on the other side of the bracing from the F-hole corner.
* This system is designed to reduce or eliminate the dreaded "Pick-Thump" from the signal. EQ the high frequency from the E-string side and mix it together with the EQed mid/low frequency from the G-string side. If EQed and blended on a mixer or dual channel amp this will produce an amazingly balanced signal. Very tweakable to taste.

This is a one of a kind setup designed for stage performance while also preserving the acoustic signature and sound of the instrument. The acoustic projection for this MK remains loud and crisp.

Included accessory: Nanotech soft neoprene strap with clip releases

I would keep this mandolin as I don't have a pickup system like it on my other mandolins but I have other mandolin projects on deck and this one just does not get played enough. It belongs on the stage so the time has come to put it in the right hands.
