The TTM 54i Performance Mixer (Excellent Condition)

Unit pulled from recording studio, used to sample disco records for production. Mixer was used sparingly. Item ships with Printed owners manual, and Power cord.

The TTM 54i Performance Mixer is a precision instrument designed for the demanding DJ.  Offering more features, higher performance, and better reliability than other Performance Mixers.

·         A precision Active Crossfader with continuous adjustable "Contour" and “Hamster” reversal controls.  Provides the lowest feed-through, lowest noise, and most responsive control, all with unprecedented reliability.

·         High performance Accelerated-Slope, band-split 24 dB per octave tone controls provides more than 40 dB of Bass and Treble cut without affecting the vocal midrange.

·         Two Phono and two Line inputs with high quality, long-life clickless transform selector switches.

·         Balanced Mic input with Bass and Treble tone controls, and an independent Effects Loop.

·         Balanced ¼" TRS and unbalanced RCA Master Outputs.

·         Headphone monitor for Master program allows rehearsal with Master level turned down.

The TTM 54 was Rane's first professional turntablist mixer in 1998.

The TTM 54i replaced the TTM 54 with improved transform switches, Lexan faceplate and more advanced technology in 2000.

History of the Hamster Switch

DJ Quest, is credited with coining the term ‘Hamster Style,' which refers to scratching with a ‘reversed’ crossfader. In other words, having Program 1 appear where Program 2 was and vice versa. With your fader reversed this way, scratching is done outward—away from the zero level point—with your thumb instead of your index and middle finger.

It wasn’t long before this way of scratching evolved to a point where the DJs wanted to Hamster on the fly, without needing to open the mixer and select one way or the other. In 1998 Rane obliged the growing request with the TTM 54i Performance Mixer and moved the switch, dubbed the Hamster switch, to an external control for the crossfader and, uniquely at the time, with the channel faders as well. (see "Hamster Switches" in listing pictures).
