Ah a Stradolin. There is much debate as to who actually made them, but the consensus on these, especially the older ones, is that they always sound better than you'd think and have developed a cult following. This one is unlabeled. With the different headstock shape, it possibly could have been sold under a different brand name, or with no name at all. This one does have a build date stamped in ink on the inside of the back, towards the neck. The date is Jan 17, 1936. A lot of older Stradolins like this one, are made of solid woods and this one appears to be. We worked glue into an old top crack, reattached part of the back, touched up some of the finish, restrung and set this instrument up for you. It has great action and fine tone. Really nice mandolin. The nut, if original, has certainly been worked on. It appears that a thin piece of bone was added to it, via a diagonal slot, which puts the edge of the bone at the edge of the nut. Overall, this mandolin is in very good used condition, with normal wear just waiting for a new owner. Comes with a chip case.

  • Made in the USA, Jan 17,1936
  • 13 3/4" scale
  • Rosewood, height adjustable bridge
