(Fathers Day Sale)
1985 Ibanez AR305AV Artist Super Edition
Flamed Maple back and sides, w/Flamed maple top, Ebony fingerboard, two super 58 pickups w/tri sound switching, all gold hardware.
One owner guitar with original case (original receipt, and Ibanez paperwork - see pictures).
I bought this guitar while stationed in Okinawa and have never seen another like it to date.
Stills plays great and all circuitry still good. It has coil tapping which is what the tri sound switching is all about. I believe you can run the humbuckers in series, parallel or as a single coils which gives an amazing versatility to this instrument. I have seen a few written descriptions of the Tri Sound Switching over the years and it varies. It has been played lovingly over the years through a black face super reverb and sounds amazing but it also has been taken good care of. Other than normal wear I believe it is in better than most of the other vintage Ibanez I have seen online.
Thanks to Carl for sending me a link to serial number identification which is more than I have ever been able to get. From the website it lists:
Your guitar was made at the
Terada Plant, Japan
on June, 1985
Production Number: 178
Update: After searching the archives at Ibanez site and sending them an inquiry into this particular model I have not received any further determination as to the year. But I was able to download some of the brochures, but as you can see none list the Super Edition.
I will update again if I get new info.
Update II 6/6/17 - I have found 2 other Super Editions listed on Reverb by viewing the Ibanez History on this site:
one is an AR300 through Groovy Baby Audio for $2500.
one is an AR350 through NYC Gear Exchange fro $2865.
That makes this one a steal! Not looking to get rich!
At least mine is not the only one. I do believe it to be a 1985 after seeing these listings the serial number seems to bear out. I also believe the pickups are in fact Super 58s.
Update III 6/10/17 - I dug through all my old Navy stuff and actually found the receipt for the guitar most of it is in Japanese but you can make out the year I bought it...1986...but I still always wondered about the production year until Carl came up with a serial number verification.
I took some new pictures too after I realized the old pictures made it look dirty so they are added now also took detailed shots of two areas one where the strap button had came loose on me and chipped a little spot and the other is where the top got scratched as a result.
I also bought an accompanying GT60 Ibanez amp from the same store which you can have if you pay shipping on it. It is not a super reverb but it is a vintage Ibanez amp it has a 15" speaker. You would not have to take it unless you wanted it but the offer stands.
