Vintage DenTone Utiliphone Guitar Amplifier As seen in the May, 2014 issue of Guitar Player (There's a copy of the Guitar Player article with my photos in this listing)!
Last one for now, I have no more of these enclosures and I'm not sure if I'll ever see another (especially in this condition).
For your consideration, an amazing guitar amplifier built from a vintage 1950's era Utiliphone intercom system. Reminiscent of the famous Deacy Amplifier made famous by Brian May of Queen, this little 1/2 watt amp roars with amazing tone. Powered by either a standard Boss style 9V center negative adaptor with a 2.1mm plug (not included) or a standard 9V battery. This thing is killer, looks like something that would have been right at home on the Jetson's or any other space age period office. Art deco styling and beauty with portability and functionality. It's all steel and I think it kind of looks like a little Airstream camper trailer!
This one is very cool, housed in a vintage steel housing with replacement Alnico speaker. Just one volume control, but you can do a ton of tone shaping with the volume and tone on your guitar too.
It's in amazing condition especially considering it's many decades old, but it's definitely got some wear and all around patina. All top quality components inside and out still though. Same circuit as the amp from the Guitar Player article, with the beautiful simplicity of one knob for master volume.
Video demonstrates how the amp (same circuit, different shell) sounds with guitar plugged straight in, and also with a Tube Screamer (TS-808) in front of it. This amp is buffered so it takes pedals nicely.
Demo is one of my older amps, but same circuit and speaker.
