Masaru Kono Kohno Model 413 Golden Era Rare! 1963 4-13

This is one fantastic guitar! Built by master Kono in his early years when he likely had one one apprentice in his shop. He had studied in Spain under Fernandez by this time but had not reached the point of international acclaim by winning the Gold Medal at the International Guitar Building Competition in 1968. These are some of his finest guitars in my opinion, and they are far more rare than his later models.

The guitar plays and sounds fantastic with sweet tone and lots of projection as you would expect of a master built guitar that has aged for almost 60 years! Top is solid spruce and back and sides and solid Indian rosewood with beautiful grain.

It has been inspected for loose braces or other issues and has a clean bill of health. There is tight top crack about 2” long and several dings in the top. There is one area on the back where it is a little dull from numerous very fine scratches and there is a possible old fracture (not break) in the headstock that did not separate and appears to have been stabilized as it doesn’t move at all under pressure.
