Based on the original Sparkle Drive, the Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive MOD overdrive pedal provides your output with four distortion circuits to forge a driving array of aural excitement. You have standard tone, volume, gain, and clean control dials that allow you to use this pedal as a distortion pedal -- achieving that creamy Tube Screamer-style distortion -- a simple clean boost pedal, or a combination of both. Mixing in your clean signal with your distorted signal allows for some interesting combinations to try out.

Mixing In That Iconic Tube Screamer 808-Style Distortion
The original concept of the Sparkle Drive pedal was have the ability to mix in your clean signal with that oozing and creamy 808-style distortion for a more dynamic sound. Your Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive MOD pedal goes a little further by offering a MOD control with four different distortion circuits: stock, lead, rhythm, and high gain.

Selecting your Different MOD Settings
You have four different distortion circuits to play around with. The stock setting is modeled after the standard 808 overdrive sound. The lead setting brings in more gain and a thicker tonal color with more body and smoother highs. The rhythm setting has a slight mid cut and sounds great for chunky rhythm syncopations. The high gain circuit features even more gain with well defined lows and highs -- a setting that pairs really well with humbuckers.

Shaping Your Sonic Signature
Aside from your MOD settings, you also have gain, tone, clean, and volume controls. The gain brings in the amount of distortion, and the tone control determines how bright or dark your signal gets. The volume control sets your overall volume level, and the clean control establishes how much of your clean signal you want mixed in with your distorted signal. With the gain all the way down, you can use this pedal as a simple clean boost effect to get your output to cut through the mix.
