About This Listing

This amp is a brand new factory second. It has two cosmetic issues that have no effect whatsoever on the performance of the amplifier:
1. The red racing stripes are slightly wider than they should be, by about 1/8". The only time you would notice this is if you were to stack it on another BC Audio head or speaker cabinet.
2. The chassis ends were bent during production and have been bent back by hand (see pic). Not visible from the outside, naturally.
For these reasons, the regular price (with options) of $3100 has been reduced by $250.

Includes $500 worth of options (see below).

Award-winning 50w all-tube non-clone guitar amp. 2x EL34 power tubes, 4x 6SL7 octal preamp tubes, GZ34 tube rectifier. True point-to-point wiring. Includes optional footswitch-controlled Gain Boost, footswitch-controlled Volume Boost and fully tube-buffered Effects Loop. LED illuminated footswitch included.

Included options:
- Gain Boost w/ footswitch, Reg. $100 value
- Volume Boost w/ footswitch, Reg. $150 value
- Effects Loop, Reg. $250 value

Faithful to the famous JTM50 plexi circuit, but adapted for octal preamp tubes and built with true point-to-point wiring. Post-phase inverter Master Volume (PPIMV). Fixed independent Gain Boost and Volume Boost give you four sounds at your feet. Select Normal or Bright channels, or link internally with front panel switch.

Based on the rare but mighty transitional "black flag" or "flag logo" plexi. Brighter, more aggressive voice. EL34 crunch with tube rectifier sag. Raw, raunchy and loud as hell.

JTM50 circuit: EL34 power tubes, GZ34 rectifier, shared V1 cathodes, medium bright cap, large mix resistors, early tone stack, large PI coupling caps, less negative feedback, high B+ voltage, moderate B+ rail filtering.

Excerpts from guitar magazine reviews of the Octal-Plex Series:

"An amp with a voice of its own – and possibly one of the best plexi-style amps ever." - Vintage Guitar

"Superb workmanship and a huge array of rich, articulate, and harmonically pleasing colors." - Premier Guitar

"Advance the volume controls to induce a huge, pillowy crunch that is consistently thick, yet impressively clear, and also delightfully easy to voice thanks to the internal paralleling of the two channels." - Guitar & Bass

"Among the best-made guitar amplifiers we've seen." - Guitar Player

"The Link middle setting of the toggle switch really turns the amp loose with a polyphonic mix of overdriven tones and overtones that are nothing less than inspiring. Playing through this amplifier gives you the freedom to really work with the harmonic character of the guitar and variable levels of sustain. It's as if you are occupying a new space that adds another dimension to your sound." - ToneQuest Report
