Designed by Fender's Senior Master Builder Todd Krause, (he makes Eric Clapton's custom Fender guitars), and built in Fender's Korean Custom Shop, the M-80 (along with the Esprit and a chambered body Telecaster) were a limited run guitar that was intended to provide a "Gibson-like" playing experience with a Fender flair. This was a special run guitar made in 2005 only.
The satin finished basswood body provides a singing resonance for the Duncan Designed Alnico pickups, and the mahogany set-neck increases sustain and playability.
The neck is fairly unique in Fender's range: Modified "D" profile, 24 3/4" scale length, and 12" radius. The overall sound of this guitar is somewhere between a humbucker equipped Jaguar and an SG, with deep, throaty scooped mids, singing highs, and tightly focused low notes.
The best way to describe the sound is to imagine the offspring of an Ibanez JEM and a Gibson SG.

Overall, the guitar is relatively light, and the workmanship is superb. The fit and finish of the guitar is several notches above most Mexican Fenders, and the fretboard edges and fret ends are amazing. Couple that with the gorgeous wood finish and impeccable fretboard inlays, and you have a rare and UNIQUELY BADASS guitar!
