Up for sale we have a 1974 Rickenbacker 4001 Bass in original Mapleglo finish with original blue plush lined hardshell case. The bass in very good overall condition with some dings and dents around the body, mostly into the finish but a few scapes down to wood on the edges as well as what appears to be a small bit of water damage at the tip of the headstock (see photos). All in all the bass looks fantastic and sounds even better! The bass features a bound Maple body, neck thru-body construction, two exceptional sounding single coil pickups (bridge pickup is missing the cover), 3-way pickup selector switch and volume and tone controls for each pickup. There was a second strap button hole drilled into the bass side horn. The medium/slim neck features a rounded, somewhat D-shape profile (classic Rickenbacker shaped profile), three-piece construction of Maple/Walnut/Maple. Replacement tuners installed. Width at the nut measures 1 5/8". Thickness of the neck measures 0.83" and 0.87" at the twelfth fret. Rosewood fretboard with pearl triangle inlays. The original frets are present and show some play wear but have good height left. The bass weighs 8 lbs. 10 oz. A legendary bass from a great era at Rickenbacker. Will be professionally packed with care. Thanks so much for looking.
