Fender Jazz Bass Victor Bailey Signature de 4 cuerdas fretless (sin trastes) + extras
- DESCATALOGADÍSIMO.
- Hecho en USA: en Corona (California) en 2007. Número de serie: DZxxxxxx4 (American Deluxe).
- Modelo signature USA, construido bajo las especificaciones de Victor Bailey (bajista que sustituyó a Jaco Pastorius en Weather Report). Con características compartidas del Pensa Suhr original de Victor.
- Se trata del modelo de cuatro cuerdas. Más difícil de conseguir puesto que VB usaba habitualmente configuraciones de 5c. Y al igual que él, por preferencia y ejecución: fretless (sin trastes).
- Maderas seleccionadas de caoba, palorosa y koa (de ésta última, el color característico y unívocamente identitario del modelo que contrasta perfecta y elegantemente con el hardware dorado) para el cuerpo. Característica que comparte con el clavijero y su logo personal (una caricatura de trazos simples del propio VB) junto al de la marca, en dorado. Arce/palorosa para el mástil con notoria selección de las maderas comparadas con otras series de Fender.
- Longitud de escala: 34"; larga de 22 "trastes" (finamente marcados sobre el diapasón) con trabajo de acabados en dots nacarados en el diapasón espectaculares. La unión mastil/cuerpo atornillada (no lleva neck plate) sino que se han incrustado en la madera unos casquillos (arandelas) metálicos (5 en total) donde se atornilla al mástil. De esta forma, la madera no se desgastaría cada vez que se desmonte el mástil. La unión, es sencillamente perfecta (como es esperable en un instrumento de estas características).
- El timbre "desenchufado", es brillante y con mucho volumen. Tiene una dinamica espectacular enchufado y sin enchufar.
- Conectadoa ampli, suena a Fender sesentero: redondo y calido. Al bajar los agudos, muy en el estilo de Jaco al incrementar los medios del previo.
- Lleva un previo activo que suena muy natural: respetando siempre el tono del instrumento. Al incrementar agudos, adquiere un tono mas slapero y moderno. Un previo que recuerda al de las series American Deluxe QMT y FMT de Fender pero no exactamente igual. El previo que porta, se diseñó especificamente para este bajo con estas maderas. Según Victor, tuvo varios bajos "de prueba" antes de terminar con el diseño definitivo. En determinadas condiciones, aparece ruido de masa (!!!) aunque esto es inherente en TODOS los modelos de Fender con independencia de sus características de construcción, serie o modelo. Más allá de este dato, el dueño anterior mantuvo conversaciones con el propio Victor y éste, le recomendó que, a ser posible (y a gusto y criterio de él) pusiese todos los potes exactamente a la mitad, tanto los de volumen como los de tono, incluidos los de preamp; donde la ejecución se daría con lo mejor de sí del instrumento.
- Tiene un pequeño cai imperceptible picotazo (es mucho decir, más exagerado de definir) en el cuerno/pico de la caja.
- Pastillas: lleva unas SCN (Samarium Cobalt Noiseless) de Fender. Single-coil Alnico Jazz Bass Pickups. De sonido dulce y redondo. Son las mismas que montan algunos modelos con activas, de la Custom Shop.
- El mástil es una pasada de comodo: acción bajisima (1,8mm al "traste" 22) en todas las cuerdas. Recto como una vara, lleva refuerzos de grafito Posiflex; prácticamente indesajustable.
- Los potenciómetros del previo son los siguientes: Volumen, Balance entre pastillas, el control de menor tamaño es el control de medios, está ajustado a 500Hz y ofrece la posibilidad de modificar la señal con +10dB y -15dB. El último control es un potenciómetro doble en el que la parte inferior son los graves, que trabajan en los 40Hz con +/- 12dB y la parte superior el control de agudos, que está ajustado a 8 kHz con +/- 10dB (el corte de agudos actúa más como un control pasivo para conseguir sonidos cálidos). El circuito funciona a 18 voltios, con dos pilas de 9v.
- Clavijeros Fender/Schaller DeLuxe aligerados (serie Ultralite) con aspecto vintage. Y junto con el resto de herrajes van bañados en oro.
- Straplocks con cuña (para afirmar la correa) exclusivos del modelo que se aprecian junto a la elegante cenefa oscura integrada en el perfil de la madera.
- De construcción impecable, NO tiene puntos "muertos" en absoluto. Todas las notas suenan igual en volumen y sonido.
- Como no puede ser de otra manera, un instrumento con una versatilidad y peso perfecto y balanceado. Que se desenvuelve desde lo más clásico a lo mas moderno con solo experimentar con sus infinitas combinaciones de previo.

- Naturalmente, tiene su propia maleta (hardcase) Fender G&G "The Original Vintage" (USA) exclusiva del modelo que combina perfectamente con el bajo (tanto por fuera como en su interior).
- El dueño anterior hizo algunas modificaciones sugeridas por el propio Victor, a saber: cubrir con una capa de poliuretano el diapasón para mejorar la protección del contacto de éste con las cuerdas al ser un fretless; y resistir mejor los embistes de los slaps. También, un conveniente cambio de los cilindros de las selletas individuales del puente (se incluyen las originales).

INCLUYO:
- Un juego extra de cuerdas al puesto: OPTIMA Gold Strings 2319ML, alemanas con recubrimiento de oro de 24K (la marca favorita de Brian May), ya que cambié la 1ra por un calibre 45 (antes, llevaba un 40) siendo las demás las mismas hasta el 105 para la cuarta.
- Le agregué un thumbrest HIPSHOT de latón bañado en oro y una auténtica joya hecha a medida por un servicio oficial de Fender en USA: la cubierta (cenicero) Fender Pure Vintage Jazz Bass 099-2088-000... G (!!!), Sí, la mítica placa de los jazz bass de los 60s/70s bañada en oro: un jazz bass con su cenicero y con la "F" en dorado para la ocasión, multiplica el MOJO (like Austin Powers) a valores inusitados  Lo que lo hace además (si cabe) ÚNICO EN SU ESPECIE.
- También, un trapo aterciopelado a juego con el hardcase y modelo (que original e inexplicablementemente no viene incluido) le sumo una franela oficial Fender (que, ídem de ídem...).
- Tres (a falta de ninguna! ¬¬) llaves Facom 82H.3/16 por si hiciera falta en un futuro lejano algún ajuste.
- Con manuales, papeles, pegatinas, promos... TODO ORIGINAL.
- Perfecto funcionamiento, Estado estético 10/10.

- VERY DISCONTINUED.
- Made in USA: in Corona (California) in 2007. Serial number: DZxxxxxx4 (American Deluxe).
- USA signature model, built under the specifications of Victor Bailey (bassist who replaced Jaco Pastorius in Weather Report). With shared features of Victor's original Pensa Suhr.
- This is the four-string model. More difficult since VB used usual 5c configurations. And like him, by preference and execution: fretless (without frets).
- Selected woods of mahogany, rosewood and koa (last, the characteristic color and univocal identity of the model that contrasts perfectly and elegantly with the gold hardware) for the body. Feature that he shares with the headstock and his personal logo (a caricature of simple strokes of VB himself) next to that of the brand, in gold. Maple/rosewood for the neck with notable selection of woods compared to other Fender series.
- Scale length: 34"; long with 22 "frets" (finely marked on the fretboard) with spectacular pearlescent dot finishing work on the fretboard. metal bushings (washers) (5 in total) in the wood where it is screwed to the neck. In this way, the wood would not wear out every time the neck is disassembled. The union is simply perfect (as expected in an instrument of these features).
- The "unplugged" ringer is bright and loud. It has spectacular dynamics plugged in and unplugged.
- Connected to an amp, it sounds like a sixties Fender: round and warm. By lowering the treble, very much in the style of Jaco by increasing the mids of the previous one.
- It has an active preamp that sounds very natural: always respecting the tone of the instrument. By increasing the treble, it acquires a more slappy and modern tone. An earlier reminiscent of Fender's American Deluxe QMT and FMT series but not exactly the same. The previous one that it carries was designed specifically for this bass with these woods. According to Victor, he had several "test" basses before finalizing the final design. Under certain conditions, ground noise appears (!!!) although this is inherent in ALL Fender models regardless of their build, series or model characteristics. Beyond this information, the previous owner had conversations with Victor himself and he managed to get him, if possible (and at his discretion) to put all the pots exactly in the middle, both volume and tone. Including preamplifier; where the execution would take place with the best of the instrument.
- It has a small almost imperceptible tip (that is to say, more exaggerated to define) in the horn/beak of the box.
- Pickups: SCN (Samario Cobalt Noiseless) from Fender. Alnico Jazz Bass Single Coil Pickups Sweet and round sound. They are the same ones that are mounted on some active models, from the Custom Shop.
- The neck is amazingly comfortable: very low action (1.8mm at "fret" 22) on all strings. Straight as a rod, it has Posiflex graphite reinforcements; practically unadjustable.
- The potentiometers of the previous one are the following: Volume, Balance between pickups, the smallest control is the middle control, it is adjusted to 500Hz and offers the possibility of modifying the signal with +10dB and -15dB. The last control is a double potentiometer in which the lower part is the bass, which works at 40Hz with +/- 12dB and the upper part is the treble control, which is adjusted to 8kHz with +/- 10dB (the cut treble acts more like a passive control for warm sounds). The circuit works at 18 volts, with two 9v batteries.
- Lightened Fender/Schaller DeLuxe machine heads (Ultralite series) with a vintage look. And along with the rest of the hardware they are gold plated.
- Wedge straplocks (to secure the strap) exclusive to the model that can be seen together with the elegant dark border integrated into the profile of the wood.
- Of impeccable construction, it has NO "dead" spots at all. All notes sound the same in volume and sound.
- How could it be otherwise, an instrument with perfect and balanced versatility and weight. That unfolds from the most classic to the most modern just by experimenting with its infinite combinations of previous ones.
- Naturally, it has its own Fender G&G "The Original Vintage" (USA) hardcase exclusive to the model that perfectly matches the bass (both outside and inside).
- The previous owner made some modifications suggested by Victor himself, namely: cover the fretboard with a layer of polyurethane to improve the protection of its contact with the strings as it is fretless; and better resist the attacks of the slaps. Also, a convenient change of the cylinders of the individual saddles of the bridge (the original ones are included).
I INCLUDE:
- An extra set of strings to the position: OPTIMA Gold Strings 2319ML, German with 24K gold coating (Brian May's favorite brand), since I changed the 1st for a 45 caliber (before, I had a 40) being the others the same up to 105 for the fourth.
- I added a gold plated brass HIPSHOT thumbrest and a real jewel custom made by an official Fender service in the USA: the Fender Pure Vintage Jazz Bass cover (ashtray) 099-2088-000... G (!!! ), Yes, the mythical plate of the jazz bass of the 60s/70s bathed in gold: a jazz bass with its ashtray and with the "F" in gold for the occasion, multiplies the MOJO (like Austin Powers) to unusual values: D Which also makes it (if possible) UNIQUE OF ITS KIND.
- Also, a velvety cloth to match the hardcase and model (which originally and inexplicably is not included) plus an official Fender flannel (which, ditto ditto...).
- Three (in the absence of any! ¬¬) Facom 82H.3/16 keys in case some adjustment is needed in the distant future.
