This amp is an older, less common model of the Frontman series. It's quite solid, and it's help up just fine for the 16 or so years I've had it. Aside from the chrome corners which seem to have lost their shine, it's in great condition and should last a long time. The volume pots do this weird thing where the jump in volume from zero is very large and sudden; but it's just due to the way they're made and not because they're broken. Just something to be aware of so that you don't jump out of your skin after making a little adjustment. This is an issue with most Fender amps- they tend to gravitate towards linear-taper pots rather than logarithmic ones, which causes this to happen. None of the controls or jacks are faulty- they all work smoothly.
The clean channel is very neutral-sounding, making it an excellent platform for pedals. The drive channel has a very grainy yet tight sound- very Marshall-y, and there's enough gain on tap to approach fuzz territory. It can do blues, classic rock, punk, grunge, noise rock, and metal (black, death, thrash, doom...and it can even djent if tweaked properly). The EQ is also pretty malleable, especially on the drive channel.
Anyone looking for a cheap, small amp to practice, jam, busk, or record with would do well with this one; and it could see some better use than sitting around in my bedroom, as I now play exclusively through my stereo when I'm home. For those who like tinkering with things, this amp would make a great head or distortion pedal, and you could have endless fun swapping out speakers, capacitors, and so on.
Specs:
• 15W
• 6.5" speaker
• 3-band master EQ
• 2 channels
• 13"W x 12"H x 7"D
• About 15 pounds
