This nearly-mint guitar began as a totally stock 2015 USA Fender Artist Series Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster. I was curious to try the scalloped neck and knew it to be an otherwise excellent model. I eventually decided that, after 50 years of playing conventional necks that I was always just a little aware of the feel difference when playing (were I still playing more, I’m sure it would have eventually felt perfectly normal.
So… I had (this) really nice non-scalloped neck on another guitar, and found it to fit very well, including ability to intonate fine (I did subsequently sell original neck and tuners). The neck is top-quality, made by Warmoth Guitars. It is finished in amber nitrocellulose and has frets very close in size to those on the original scalloped neck. It has the full “59 Roundback” profile but has been professionally and subtley reshaped on the bass side to give the upper half a very soft V shape. This allows the thumb to rest in a very comfortable ergonomic position, leaving the treble-side full to still comfortably rest in the hand. The reshaped portion is sealed appropriately and is smooth to the touch and eye. The compensated nut is made by Earvana and allows the guitar to play perfectly in tune across the entire fingerboard. The tuners are the locking Fender tuners and the setup is perfectly adjusted for effortless play without buzz or bending chokes. Tuning is perfectly stable even with judicious use of the slightly-floating trem.
The ‘varigated’ gold foil pickguard and backplate are from Quickguards, and are of very high quality. Push-push pots allow tone-control bypass as well as notched pickup combinations, still maintaining the 3-way selector simplicity.
Strap-side portions of the recessed locks will be included, as well as the original pots, pickguard and Fender deluxe tweed/plush-poodle case (also in near mint shape).
I am a professional luthier and experienced player who has owned and worked on aLOT of instruments and I LOVE this guitar. It is top notch and extremely versatile. It was to be a lifetime keeper but I’ve concluded that as Fenders go, I’m more drawn to the telecaster.
Please feel free to ask any questions. I’m sure you’ll love this guitar!
